Ukraine welcomes the introduction of European Union sanctions against Russian propagandists, including television hosts who play a key role in spreading war propaganda.
“For years, Russian propagandists have systematically and deliberately fueled grotesque, chauvinistic, and genocidal anti-Ukrainian hysteria in order to mobilize Russians for war and the killing of Ukrainians.Such actions are punishable under Article III (c) of the Genocide Convention – direct and public incitement to commit genocide,” said Heorhii Tykhyi, Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
Ukraine calls on European and international partners to rely on the decisions of the EU Council and to take decisive measures against those involved, as well as against propaganda structures.
The list of sanctioned propagandists must be expanded, and the restrictions extended to other jurisdictions, including within the framework of the Group of Seven (G7).
“Accountability for Russian propaganda is a matter of security, truth, and justice,” the MFA Spokesperson emphasised.
