On June 15, 2016 Ukrainian-Hungarian consultations on international security, non-proliferation and transatlantic cooperation were held in Budapest. The consultations were organized according to the Plan of Consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary for the years 2015-2016. The Ukrainian delegation was headed by the Director-General of the Directorate General for International Security Serhiy Shutenko, the Hungarian delegation – by the Director of the Department for Security Policy and Non-Proliferation Ishtván Balogh.
During the consultations the sides discussed key security challenges the European continent is facing nowadays, in particular in connection with the Russian military aggression against Ukraine and the situation in the Middle East, as well as the preparation for the upcoming Warsaw NATO summit and the meeting of the Ukraine-NATO Commission at the highest level.
Hungary confirmed its support of the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine, as well as non-recognition of the illegal annexation of Crimea.
It was agreed to hold the next bilateral consultations in Kyiv in autumn this year.
