Ambassador's speech during the film premier:
Good evening dear ladies and gentlemen,
First of all thank you being interested in Ukraine.
I would like to thank the authors and the participants of the film.
And I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the Heroes who defended and defends Ukraine against Russian agression, and my condolences to the families of those who sacrificed their lives in this battle.
In my opinion this film tells us about their and the country's pain as well as about the dignity.
There is no difference if you are of Ukrainian, Hungarian or other nationality, if you are rich or poor, when your country is in war.
In my opinion the film provides us a food for thought.
Hence I would like to ask you to think when you watch this film.
Think about things mentioned in the film and about those which were not mentioned.
Remember, that the Russian propaganda called not only the Ukrainian Revolution of Dignity, but also the Hungarian revolution of 1956 a colour revolution.
Remember, that participants of the Revolution of Dignity peacefully demonstrated for the European future of the country.
But when the authorities beat peaceful students and later started to shoot the protesters that resulted in killing more than 100 people, they did become more radical.
Remember, that the illegal annexation of Crimea from the beginning was organized by Russia and implemented by the Russian army.
The so called referendum was held at Russian guns point despite the protests of Crimean Tatars and Ukrainians.
Remember that we have 1,8 mln. internally displaced persons.
About 150 Ukrainians are in prison on the non controlled territory of Donbas, occupied Crimea and in Russia.
More than 10 000 people died.
In the east of Ukraine we have Russian soldiers and the most modern Russian weapons.
And when you listen to the mother of died Ukrainian soldier, wishing to have peace in Ukraine, ask yourself the most important question – what is needed to fulfil this.
If we are sincere with ourselves the answer is very simple.
Russia should stop its aggression against Ukraine and leave the east of Ukraine and Crimea.
We wish the same as Hungarians in 1956 – ruszkik haza.
We were not prepared for this aggression and didn’t expect such baseness from our neighbour.
There are no such problems as it was at the beginning - currently only contracted trained army fights in the antiterrorist operation having appropriate weapons and ammunitions.
But we still need international support.
Weapons for defence, political and sanctions pressure on Russia this is the help we need.
The film is very sincere. And for this sincerity I would like to ask you to be sincere too.
Let’s not pretend that we don’t see Russian soldiers and Russian weapons in the east of Ukraine and not try to appease the aggressor at any price.
I would like to ask you when you think about the necessity of the sanctions remember faces of those soldiers of Ukrainian and Hungarian origin whom you will see in the film.
Remember about tears of their families.
Think how many of my compatriots of Ukrainian and Hungarian origin will have to die more if we don’t stop Russia now. Yesterday we lost 3 soldiers.
There is no price or medal to compensate this loss, as well as there is no price to justify cooperation with aggressor paying for such a cooperation with people lives.
I watched this fim a few times before I came here. And every time I hoped that it would be another end. I hoped that like in a fairy tale in one minute Crimea and Donbas become again a peaceful and happy part of Ukraine. I am sure that my dream will become true. But I need your help to make it happen faster.
I count on your support.
And thank you for your attention.
