President Petro Poroshenko has held a meeting with Prime Minister of Hungary Viktor Orban.

The Head of State has thanked Hungary for the support of Ukrainian independence, territorial integrity and sovereignty, as well as for the humanitarian assistance, which also includes treatment of Ukrainian soldiers. "Now we are facing the most difficult times and your position is extremely important for us," the President emphasized.

The President has informed the Hungarian Prime Minister on the results of the Minsk negotiations and the EU Council's session in Brussels. The Head of State has emphasized the importance of the ceasefire, because every day Ukraine pays a high price – numerous victims among civilians and Ukrainian soldiers. Today, the city of Artemivsk was shelled from the multiple launch rocket systems, which led to three civilians killed, including a 7-year-old child. In addition, the city of Hirnyk was also shelled. "After what we have reached in Minsk, it is an attack not only on Ukrainian civilians, but also on the Minsk results," the President noted.

"If bilateral ceasefire is not achieved in the night of February 15, we will urge to convene an emergency session of the European Council, because Angela Merkel and Francois Hollande represent not only Germany and France in these negotiations. They have a mandate from the entire European Union," the Head of State noted. In this context the President counts on the support of Hungary. Viktor Orban emphasized that he realized the importance of the ceasefire and compliance with the Minsk agreements.

The parties have discussed cooperation in the sphere of energy diversification and energy security. Particularly, it went about further development of diversification of natural gas supply to Ukraine.

The President has also touched upon the situation of the Hungarian community in Ukraine. People's deputy, Chairman of the Community of Hungarian Culture of Zakarpattia Vasyl Brenzovych, who was present at the meeting, noted that Ukrainian Hungarians support peaceful efforts of the President and do not feel any oppression based on ethnicity.

The parties have discussed the opportunities of further social and cultural development of Hungarian minority and its involvement in the state processes of Ukraine.
