On 29 January 2015 on open lecture on the current situation in Ukraine was held at the Péter Pázmany Catholic University of Budapest by famous Hungarian expert, Research Fellow of the Finnish Institute for Foreign Affairs András Rácz.
The speaker stressed the absence of any ethnic component in the events in Crimea, Donetsk and Lugansk regions; denied accusations of Russian propaganda about the desire of the population of the above regions to secede from Ukraine; drew attention to the Kremlin manipulation of public opinion and the work of Russian propaganda machine; stressed Moscow’s extraordinary efforts to convince the Europeans about the "illegitimate Ukrainian authorities" and "Kiev junta". During the event unambiguous support of the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine and condemnation of the military aggression of Russia and its hybrid war in our country was stressed. The speaker also drew attention to the heroic Ukrainian soldiers such as the defenders of the Donetsk airport (cyborgs) and the Ukrainian pilot Nadiya Savchenko, which was kidnapped in Ukraine and is being illegally detained in prison in Moscow because of the unsubstantiated allegations.
Chargé d’Affaires of Ukraine to Hungary Mykhailo Yunger, in his turn, informed the audience about the voting in PACE on Nadiya Savchenko’s issue; explained the position of the Ukrainian government regarding the planned administrative reform; noted the groundlessness of requirements to transform Ukraine into a federal state; highlighted the plans to increase the powers of the regions; assured that the mobilization in all regions of Ukraine, particularly in Trascarpathia, will be proportional with regard to the representatives of national minorities.
The event was attended by a significant number of participants and proved unambiguous support of Ukraine.
