Cooperation between scientific institutions of Ukraine and Hungary is carried out under the Agreement between the Government of Ukraine and the Government of Hungary on Cooperation in Science and Technology. Joint Ukrainian-Hungarian Commission for Scientific and Technology Cooperation is responsible for the implementation of the Agreement. The Seventh session of this body took place on February 10-11,2009 in Kyiv.

Priority dimensions of bilateral cooperation in science and technology are: basic research on some urgent problems of natural, social sciences and humanities, new technologies in energy industry, including metallurgy, environmental protection and sustainable development, new technologies of diagnosis and treatment of most common and complex diseases, cultivation and crop protection, microbiology, information technologies.

The Eighth session of the Joint Ukrainian-Hungarian Commission for Scientific and Technology Cooperation is supposed to be held in Budapest in 2019.
